The Crown XLS 5000 is the flagship of the low cost XLS power amplifier line, rated for a maximum output of 5000 watts when operating in bridged mono mode and driving a 4 ohm speaker load. The XLS 5000 is a two channel amplifier, and can also be used in stereo mode. When driving a pair of 8 ohm speakers, it can output a maximum of 1100 watts per channel. This level of power is sufficient to provide the sound for all-day outdoor events without breaking a sweat. Because of its massive weight (over 60 pounds), it is best suited for bands that have plenty of assistance with moving their equipment, or for permanent installations from which they will not be moved. Bands that will be performing in small and medium concert venues may find that the XLS 5000 provides more power than is necessary, and may be better off looking at the lower power offerings in the XLS lineup such as the XLS 802 or XLS 602.
The XLS 5000 features precision detented controls, allowing you to easily recall your settings if the amplifier ever needs to be removed. When installed in the proper rackmount configuration, its forced air induction cooling system will be more than sufficient to keep the amplifier operating within the proper temperature ranges at all times, even through all day events under the hot sun. The XLS 5000 also has numerous protective features, in case the level of heat ever becomes too much for the amplifier to handle (for example, if enough air space is not given for the unit to properly cool itself).
