Peavey CS1400 Power Amps Review

Although the CS1400 may be slightly lower in power, it is not short on features or sound quality. Among musicians, Peavey is known as a company that produces extremely accurate amplifiers that do not exaggerate bass or treble. The CS1400 continues this tradition by providing some of the best sound quality available for small and medium venue performances. Longtime Peavey users have commented that the only amplifiers that sound better are the kind that a musician wouldn't dare take on tour. Although the CS1400 produces extremely high quality sound, it does so in a rugged package that is resistant to the wear and tear of touring. Peavey backs their claims of durability with a five year factory warranty on all amplifiers in the CS series.

On the road, a number of mishaps can occur, making all of the CS1400's safety features welcome additions. Internally, the CS1400 contains two fans and heatsinks; one combo for each amplification channel. If one channel should ever become too hot to operate properly, it will shut off, and that channel's fan will spin at maximum speed until the temperature decreases and normal operation can resume. Additionally, the CS1400 is able to detect whether the input volume being sent to the amplifier is enough to overpower the speakers, and automatically reduce the output volume to a safe level to prevent damage. When this is taking place, an alert LED will light up on the front of the unit, alerting the musician to reduce the volume of their instrument.

Although the Peavey CS1400 produces a great deal of power, 1400 watts may not be enough for very large concert halls or for outdoor performances. For musicians who expect to play in larger venues, a more powerful amp such as the CS3000 or CS4000 may be preferable. On the other side of the coin, a combo amp may be a better choice for musicians who primarily play in venues such as coffee shops, where 1400 watts may be too much power.

Peavey has been providing the highest quality amplification in the music business since 1965, and their CS series of power amplifiers continues to build on a legend that is several decades in the making. Peavey CS1400 Power Amplifiers are the lower-powered cousins of the CS midrange amp series, the CS2000 being slightly higher in power. The CS1400 amplifier is rated for a maximum bridged mono power output of 1400 watts, making it an excellent choice for bands or DJs that are just beginning to leave the club scene behind and play medium sized concert halls.

Peavey CS1400 Power Amplifiers - Summary:
