Pyle PT6800 Power Amps Review

Pyle PT6800 Power Amp Pyle Audio has built a highly respected name for itself over a number of years of producing equipment for the car and marine audio industries. With their reputation in these fields assured, Pyle has recently expanded its product offerings to include power amplifiers for DJs, performing musicians, and home stereos and theaters. In a very short time, Pyle has become a top name in the pro audio industry, and Pyle PT6800 Power Amplifiers, delivering a whopping maximum of 6000 watts to a single bridged speaker, are certain to further solidify Pyle's reputation as the dominant name in the industry in terms of providing the most wattage per dollar spent.

In addition to its maximum of 6000 watts to a single bridged speaker, the PT6800 can output a maximum of 3000 watts per channel in standard dual channel operation. Whether you are looking for an amplifier that can drive the most powerful of subwoofers or one that can power your band through its next all day outdoor concert event, the PT6800 can do it. It features the standard XLR inputs, along with something that is sure to please many DJs: RCA inputs, which are compatible with nearly any turntable, CD deck, or mixer. If the PT6800 is not being used to power a subwoofer, the rear mounted bass roll-off switch is sure to please. Using the switch, users can set a roll-off point at either 30 or 50 Hz, and the unit will automatically attenuate all frequencies that are below this level. This feature protects certain speakers that are unable to reproduce subsonic bass frequencies, especially at 3000 watts per channel.

Along with speaker protection, the PT6800 features a full complement of internal protective circuitry. The unit is cooled by an aluminum heat sink and dual variable speed fans. The fans quickly draw hot air out of the amplifier, preventing components from being damaged. If heat ever becomes too great of an issue due to a blocked vent or improper installation, the PT6800 will automatically shut itself down before the excessive heat can cause damage. This thermal protection is further augmented by the fact that the unit is capable of shutting down to prevent damage in the event of an electrical problem. During normal operation, multiple signal level LEDs are present to give the user an idea of their relative volume level. If the unit is being driven too hard, a clipping notification LED on the front of the unit will light up, alerting the user of the fact that the volume needs to be decreased to prevent blown speakers.

* Produces a maximum of 6000 watts to a single bridged channel, or 3000 watts per channel in stereo mode
